Happy Friday lovelies! It was a busy-ish week and I am looking forward to some catch up this weekend. Tuesday The Blog Guild held a happy hour meet up hosted by the darling Golden and Pine shop. We nibbled on these gorgeous treats by Heirloom Bakery. Seriously the cutest store!
I have my eye on one of these. I mean really.... it's pink ombre and a lucky horseshoe!
I spend Wednesday playing catch up in the evening with editing and writing.
My Peony bush in my backyard is finally opening. Is this not the most gorgeous ever? I am going to cut a few and bring them inside to enjoy.
I am itching for a new pair of sandals and I think these may be the ones.
Have a great weekend!

It's been a heck of a week and I am happy it's Friday! Too much drama and petty behavior for me in one week. I'm putting it all behind me and looking forward to a relaxing weekend. #goodenergy
I'm happy for these gorgeous Rananculous that have graced my counter this week. Best investment for floral arrangements ever was taking a Bloom Academy Class. If you follow me on snap, (find me here > lisa.murie) then you saw where my peonies bush in my backyard is bursting with blooms about to open. I can't wait for those beauties to grace my counter soon.
I am looking at dates to visit my bestie in Florida and I think this is a must for my vacation.
Spotted, or rather checked.... haha, these gingham flats, right now 30% off with code SCORE and by combining gingham and leather it makes for the perfect flat, but if lace ups more your style then these are perfect and on sale too 30% off with code SCORE!!
I may have found the perfect off the shoulder striped top here. Being on sale doesn't hurt either!
Have a great weekend my friends, and I will see you back here next week!

TGIF! I don't know if I should be excited or nervous for this weekend. We will be having a certain almost 3 year old grandson spend two nights with us. Lets hope I have what it takes to keep up with his abundance of energy. You can count on us playing lots of cars, pretending to be zoo animals, and if it doesn't rain he will most likely mow the yard with his bubble mower. My oldest grandson turns 7 this weekend as well. My.... where does the time go! It seems like just yesterday my babes were this little!
On another note...I official have purchased my tickets to Southern California. If you have any suggestions or ideas of things to see and do please send them my way. I haven't been to this part of California in years. I will be enjoying the sunny beaches of Laguna and Newport beach area for 5 days. Bring on the summertime!

This room has truly been a labor of love. I've put more thought into this room than any other room in my home. Usually I can pull together the décor and finish a room up in a relatively short amount of time. . .not this time. I had a vision for how I wanted my bedroom to look. This design journey began in my head over a year ago with only a few minor idea changes; different fabric for the pillows here, all white bedding rather than the taupe linen duvet cover there. All in all, for me, the most important detail remained the same - creating a calming and peaceful place to retreat and relax.
I have to always be considerate of the fact that this is not just my room. To my surprise, Joe was completely onboard with the touches of pink. He would not have been happy with a pink explosion! We literally stripped the room, from the bed and wall color to the carpeting. The only original pieces left in the room are our night stands. However, I do want to replace them with mirrored chests to match my other pieces and as soon as I find them in the right size I will.
I can't tell you how much I love this wall color. It truly lives up to its name, Versatile Gray from Sherwin Williams. It is the same paint we used in my office which you can see the full design post of here. I used the below colors as my palette for the entire room. Soft neutral colors with a slight pop of color in the brighter pink pompom throw, the pillows and the abstract art.
During the building process, I had outlets installed for both cable and electric higher up on the wall so that they could be hidden by the television. Unfortunately, I didn't have a way to hide the DVD or cable box so I made a sleeve out of matching linen fabric to cover the unsightly cords that otherwise stand out.
I tried out two other rugs in my bedroom before finally finding this one at Rugs USA. This is not my first rug from Rugs USA, so I was confident I would receive a rug with great quality and color accuracy. I was right. Not only does the color coordinate with my room, I love how it feels beneath my feet.
This is my favorite corner to sit with my laptop, to read a book, or catch up on my reality TV. I searched and searched for a lamp perfect for this space and finally found one with a rectangle base and shade from Lamps Plus. I was looking for a lamp that would not protrude too far into the room so this rectangular shape was important to me. A bonus with my lamp is it has a floor on/off switch!
Have you tried sleeping on a silk pillow case yet? If not, you should! I have to admit what they say is soooo true. It really does make a difference with your hair and skin. There are several brands out there so be sure to research their silk content. Slip Silk Pillowcases sent me this pink (of course) pillowcase and I am sold. I will never go back to a cotton pillowcase.
Lamps // Bed // Mirror chest ( almost identical) // Rug c/o // Pouf // Mirror side table (Sold out but I have this one too) // Juju Hat // Pillows (I made) // Abstract art (no longer available) // Woman Silhouette art ( similar ) // Slip Pillowcase c/o // Floor Lamp c/o // Pom pom throw // Monogram pillow // Love print //

I enjoy having fresh flowers around my home weekly. I pick up a couple of bunches from Sams generally and divide them up usually between two or three vases. I have had great luck with them lasting two weeks before I change them out. There are a few places a large vase or jar is just too big. I also love candles in my home and the Capri Blue candles from Anthropologie not only smell good... the jars are so pretty. I decided to clean one of the jars out of the hardened wax to repurpose the jars. Flowers + repurposed pretty jars = Perfect!!! I am going to share with you the easiest way I found to clean the hardened wax out of the jars so you have a clean container. Its only a few easy steps and a couple of pointers of what NOT to do.
Boil enough water to fill your container. Using hot pads, pour the boiling water carefully into your jar in a safe location on your counter. Allow the jar to sit for a few hours, even better... overnight. When you come back the wax will have cooled and solidified at the top of the water. The water allows the wax to soften and as the temperature cools the wax begins to harden and float. If you have a larger piece of remaining wax in your jar, simply cut it in two with a butter knife and remove the pieces. I recommend not removing the wax from the water before it has completely cooled for risk of burning your hands. After you remove the wax do not pour the water down your drain. Here is why... There may be remaining wax in the water and you won't want that clinging in your sink or down your drain. Dispose of the water in your yard. As far as the wick glued to the bottom of the jar, I have been successful in prying it up, but it may take a little bit of force. If you have a colored jar like my red one below, to remove the label do not scratch the glass with anything sharp or the color will scratch off.
Add flowers, makeup brushes, candy, sea shell.... whatever you like and enjoy.

Last weekend in Kansas City we had phenomenal weather, and I was fortunate enough to spent my afternoon enjoying it down in the River Market. The River Market event space with its wide open garage doors lend itself for the perfect venue for an afternoon with friends and flowers.
Emily, a fellow KC Blogger Meetup board member is also a talented floral designer amongst other things. The Bloom Academy - an online floral course - is her latest venture. She offers in addition to her online portion local workshops throughout the year. Gosh I am glad I am local! Take a peek at the afternoon of friends and flowers.
The afternoon was spent with beautiful flowers and beautiful friends. We mingled and enjoyed sweet bites and beverages. Emily then spent the first portion of the class giving instructions, tips, and tricks to beautiful arrangements.
And then..... she let us loose. I thought I was pretty good at floral arranging.... but I learned so much more then I ever expected and am so glad I attended and plan on going to more of her workshops.
You seriously should look into her next class, or sign up to become a member and you receive exclusive details to making your home blossom!
We received individual time with Emily to answer any questions we may have and to offer any pointers to the arrangements we were creating! Here is my arrangement. I'm pretty darn pleased.
I'm excited to make my next arrangement with all my new tips I learned.

Last you heard from me I was traveling to my nieces wedding in Minnesota. It was a wonderful weekend and we had a fabulous time catching up with relatives from all over that traveled in for this celebration. I have been going thru all the hundreds of photos I took and editing them. Its a process, and you can't hurry it either! I finally finished some of the pictures from our nature walk the morning of the wedding. See here's the thing... the wedding was in Minneapolis at their family church the girls grew up in and attended school. The reception was in a beautiful barn in the country in River Falls Wisconsin. It was about a 30 minute drive from one location to the other so it wasn't bad at all. We stayed in a hotel closer to the barn rather than closer to the church so when we partied late into the night we wouldn't have far to go!
We had a few hours in the morning to kill prior to the wedding. The weather was gorgeous and there was a river close by with a trail, and a launching spot for kayakers. So about 6 of us decided to check it out. This was the suspension bridge we first crossed to the trails.
Looking over the edge of the bridge was a stream, and if you look close you will see the fisherman sitting at the edge in the second photo.
Further along and closer to the launch spot for the kayaks was a mini waterfall.
This is my brother. I only have the one... and he is enough! He is very close to my middle son, and they have a wonderful relationship and banter quite well if I may say so!
And this is my brother teaching my son what to look for if you're ever caught in the woods and need... well shall we say... nature calls and you need assistance. He was pointing out that Trevor should alway look for a plant with three leaves clustered together. That's the safest! Ummmm, yeah! If you want poison ivy! My brother is such a trickster!
Trevor felt it was a safer bet to walk the trail with my sister in law after that so called learning experience! Ha, smart boy!
We trekked down these stairs...see where the railing ends?
Well here is the end of the railing... and more stairs. Remember as far as we hiked down to get to the water we had to hike back up!
I was practicing with my new lens and cannot believe I caught this bee in mid flight! The best way to learn a new lens is lots of practice!
I just loved all the colors and textures to the trail. We missed the leaves turning by a week. I bet it is beautiful right now.
Tomorrow I am sharing what I wore to travel in! It's pretty cute!
