Athleisure wear

February 27, 2018
Ok, I did it!  I jumped on the athleisure wear train!  I slipped into these leggings and realized instantly why so many gals wear them.  Super comfy.... and talk about making you feel pulled together in all the right places.

I have to admit, I'm not one to run around in leggings; It's just not me.  Give me a pair of slim fit joggers and I'm happy, but these are pretty fab.  My best friend from high school has a pair  of leggings for every day of the week.  She literally lives in them and she talked me into my first pair.  I love the black on black leopard print of these and now I see now why so many girls wear them all the time.  I think they would great for traveling and with the right longer top or tunic, they could be airport appropriate.  I personally have always dressed for traveling.  You never know who you are going to cross paths with in an airport and while I have never had my luggage lost ( fingers crossed it doesn't happen), being dressed for an occasion rather than a yoga studio feels better to me!   Just saying!!

Polka Dots and Pink

February 20, 2018
Put a little pink on me and watch me shine!  Gab alway says, my best pics are when I am wearing pink!  I think she is right!   It doesn't hurt that my bag is pink either!

I love a good polka dot and this shirt does not disappoint.  When I found this soft pink cardigan I knew I would want to pair them together.  To elevate my pattern mixing, these pants are a black on black leopard print.  If you read my post How to Pattern Mix, then you know I am not shy of mixing it up!! Because the pants have a leopard pattern in them I chose a solid black shoe.  Adding a few good items to my closet that I can multipurpose in different seasons is always a good investment.  Have you added any transitional items to your wardrobe lately?  What are some of your favorite items to multipurpose?

Mixing Patterns with Leopard

December 07, 2016
It has been a while since I shared a pattern mixing post.  Today I mixed some of my favorites.  Leopard (of course), gingham and army green.  It was such an easy outfit to pull together.

Throwing patterns together comes pretty easy for me.  I hear all the time from my friends and followers; "I just don't know how to put it together".  I did an full post dedicated to just this and you can read my entire pattern mixing post here.  I really enjoy when someone shares with me how they stepped out of their comfort zone, even just a little with their outfit.  What are some of your favorite patterns to mix?  I love gingham and leopard together, and I love florals and stripes!  To me, fall is the best time to mix patterns.  You have the option for so many different types of layers, it makes it easy to pull a super fun outfit together.

Summer Halter

July 13, 2016
Summer time means halter tops and tank tops. I am beginning the process of pulling items for my trip to Palm Beach and the Florida Keys in a little over two weeks and this halter will definitely be packed!  Just the fact that I can say I am packing for vacation makes me happy!  I know we will have plenty of fun and sun not to mention a few adult cocktails!  My best friend of 26+ years moved to Palm Beach 4 years ago, and while I  would love to move to Florida too, right now isn't the right time for me.  I need my boys to be a little more stable with their adult legs under them before I move 7 states away!  I know, people say they can visit, and "it's not that far away".... and my favorite is when someone says " well then they will be force to get their legs under themselves".  It's hard enough in the world right now without adding additional stress and worries on my boys at this growing stage in their lives.  Florida isn't sinking, or floating away.  It will be there when I am ready to move.

I have always loved Florida, mostly the Gulf side.  I grew up going to visit my grandparent who lived in the Gulf Breeze Pensacola area during the summers and visiting the white sands, and clear blue waters has always held a special spot in my heart. I am an ocean girl for sure!  I use to always think I didn't care for California beaches as much until my visit there last year to Laguna.... um let's just say I wold move there!  Hello?!... Thousands steps beach!!!   This week is halfway over.... Happy Wednesday!

Tie Dye Maxi

July 10, 2016
Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  I had a productive two days off and that makes for a great start for a full work week... at least I hope so!!  One thing is for sure, the humidity is in full force and if you don't have thick hair then you would notice as much as me.  I have thick... I mean thick hair.  I'm not really complaining; some woman would love to have hair as thick as mine.  It is a blessing, but a problem at times too.  My hair is naturally full of body with a lot of wave and curl.  I straighten the heck out of my hair most days or else I add an actual curl to it to tame the size!  Doesn't that sound funny to say?  Cutting my hair would only make it curlier too.  I will live with the humidity and you will have to laugh your way through the next few outfits with hair the size of a lions mane (dramatic I know)!!

I have had this maxi for a few years and even summer I love it just as much as the summer before.  I am a sucker for most tie dye as long as it doesn't resemble too much of a Grateful Dead or hippie look!! The neck line plunges a bit so I add a lace bra let to take up a little cleavage.  I love the criss cross back and to add a little leg I tie a knot in the hem off to one side!  Have you ever tie your maxi hem?  You should try it and see if you like it!!

Cutoffs and Chucks

July 06, 2016
We made it half way through the week!  Thank heavens for 4 day work weeks, am I right? How was your holiday celebrations?  I hope your plans didn't get rained out or equally as bad, I hope it wasn't a scorcher.  We had pretty mild with a bit of humidity in the air, but nothing like July generally is! With the temperatures rising it's time for light colors and a great hat for shade.  I love the light feel this outfit brings with it's pale pink and white denim cutoffs. My panama hat has been a life saver more times than you would imagine.  I really don't know what I did before I had one.  I wear mine in the yard, at the pool, and even on the weekends out sometimes.  I again did the side tuck; it just works better for me than a front tuck with my tee.   I wanted to keep the outfit light with jewelry as well so I paired only one leather Rustic Cuff wrap and a simple pair of silver hoop earrings.  The neon tassel necklace was a perfect addition with a pop of color, don't you think?

7 ways to style White Denim

May 06, 2016
Gap
Happy Friday!  The weather is gorgeous here in the Midwest and it looks like spring has finally arrived.  Can you believe we are already into May?  Crazy.  My middle son turns 24 tomorrow and Sunday is Mother's Day so it will be busy to say the least for me.   I have shared so many outfits with my white denim this spring and we aren't even close to Memorial Day. I 'm pretty sure the rule of white after Memorial Day is a bit out of date! I rounded up my favorite outfits where I have styled my white jeans, both distressed and non distressed to show you how versatile a pair can be.  If you don't have a pair.... you should get a pair now!   I linked to everything that was still available or shared options in all of these outfits below.

Wedges are super popular again this season and I tend to wear them a lot more now.  They are comfortable and can dress any outfit up, or down, depending on what you pair them with.  In the first two outfits I wore heels with my white denim.  A mid heel, but definitely dresses up my outfit.  Don't be afraid to mix denims together.  I paired my jean jacket with two of these outfits and loved the contrast!  Another fun option is to throw on a pair of converse.   From bags, to clutches to totes anything goes with white denim!  Have fun with how you style your denim and let me know if you have a favorite way you style your white denim.

Bandana Neck Scarf Trend

April 19, 2016
Style is something you have that represents who you are, but trends come and go.  One of this years trend of bandana neck scarves is such a fun and lively way to dress up any outfit.  Yes any outfit, you can tie one on with a cute little white dress and a pair of converse even.  Synonymous with cowboys and farm hands for keeping them cool in the long hot summer sun, they have long been a fashion statement.  Depending on where you live they could even represent what group of people you hang with.... but let's not go there.  Keep your bandana out of your back pocket!  Ranging in a rainbow of colors you can add several to your accessories closet without breaking the bank however, if you're looking for a dressier bandana scarf perhaps of silk I linked to one of those beauties below as well.  Urban Outfitters, Hobby Lobby, and Nordstrom all carry these fun scarfs.  It's supper easy to tie, simply roll it from one corner to the other and loosely wrap around your neck and make a knot leaving a little bit of a tail with the ends.  Pull on the scarf gently where it is wrapped around your neck to create a bit of fullness and voila'!
I added my jean jacket for a casual look but as I mentioned earlier, you can dress this trend up or down depending on the occasion.  What do you think of bandana scarfs?  Would you wear this trend?

Transitioning into Spring

April 11, 2016

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  I spent mine enjoying time at home and catching up.  It felt so good to get caught on and head into the week with a clean to do list.  Tuesday is The Blog Guild's Spring meet up and I am anxious to meet so many new members.  Speaking of spring, I wanted to share this spring sweater with you.  It's on sale right now and comes in a few colors too.  It is the perfect weight for transitioning into spring. I know we are always talking about seasonal transitioning and spring is here, but in all actuality we are headed into rainy season.  So we have about 30 more days before we will really be able to enjoy spring.  I will take the few fleeting days between the rainy days for now.

Style Tip:  Add a long necklace when layered with a V neck to compliment the neckline.  I added my Shop Mad Jewels Stefi necklace and it is available in several color combinations. It is lightweight and so cute.

Adding a few lightweight sweaters that are versatile enough to wear during the day with shorts then switch up to jeans in the cooler evenings will be a good addition to your wardrobe.  When fall roles around I will use these same transitional sweaters to transition into the cooler fall night.  You better grab them while they are on sale and pick up one in every color too!

How to layer a Tee Dress for Spring

March 11, 2016
It's jacket weather and that means light layers and versatile outfits. Another day... another great tee dress and a little role reversal from yesterdays pink and green. Although I am about the only color in these outfit pics due to spring hasn't fully sprung it still is great.  Blazers are making a big comeback this season and flow unstructured is the way to go.  A jean jacket is a timeless accessory and will go with about anything.... actually I think it does go with everything.  Anyway, if you are looking to add a few light jackets this season I have linked to a few favorites below that I love.

Style Tip:  When shopping for a jacket pay close attention to where it hits you on your hips and always try the jacket on with flats and heels.  The change in heel height will visually make a difference in where the jacket hits.

I also want to share with you how much I love this Shop Mad Jewels Celine necklace.  I purchased it last fall and I am so glad as this color was limited edition.  She does offer several other color options and you will love the bright orange for a fun summer color.  I love her turquoise mini Celine and think I may have to get it too!   The mini Celine necklace is shorter and would be perfect for tanks and sleeveless dress.
