Easy Fall Transitioning

October 18, 2016
This outfit is perfect to transition into fall with a neutral palette.  With my top being lighter in weight but long sleeves I can wear it day to evening.  I love adding an element of texture to silks and my Ashley Pittman chain link necklace does just that.  I last wore it with my blue sundress in Florida and again, it was a show stopper with a clean solid palette against my solid color dress. The fun thing with transitioning during seasons is you get the best of both worlds.  Mixing denim with sandals, and jackets with shorts it feels like a whole new wardrobe almost!

I have been a little mia and promise to get back to regularly scheduled post as as soon as this month is behind me.  It is the busiest time of the year and between work, traveling, and a few exciting things behind the scenes I have a super full plate.  Hang with me, I promise you won't want to miss what I am woking on.

Put a Scarf on It

September 29, 2016

Jackets season is here and if you don't own a green utility jacket, you should.  Lightweight and versatile, this jacket is so easy and fun to wear.  My first love  of a season will always be summer, but fall is a great follow up!  I love the crisp mornings and cooler evenings.  The weather tends to bring more socializing in the neighborhood too.  We all gather in driveways sometimes with fire pits, other times to play games! Last Friday we played Jenga with a few cocktails and friends and had so much fun!

Neck scarfs are trending still and I couldn't wait to have a little fun with pattern mixing with this floral scarf and stripes.  Florals are a fall must this season too. Adding a scarf can take your outfit from ordinary to polished.  Don't be afraid of white after labor day.  Paired with the right fall ensemble it looks great.  I stacked some fun bracelets added my GiGi NY cross body, monogramed of course and I'm ready for some Friday night football!

Tie Dye Maxi

July 10, 2016
Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  I had a productive two days off and that makes for a great start for a full work week... at least I hope so!!  One thing is for sure, the humidity is in full force and if you don't have thick hair then you would notice as much as me.  I have thick... I mean thick hair.  I'm not really complaining; some woman would love to have hair as thick as mine.  It is a blessing, but a problem at times too.  My hair is naturally full of body with a lot of wave and curl.  I straighten the heck out of my hair most days or else I add an actual curl to it to tame the size!  Doesn't that sound funny to say?  Cutting my hair would only make it curlier too.  I will live with the humidity and you will have to laugh your way through the next few outfits with hair the size of a lions mane (dramatic I know)!!

I have had this maxi for a few years and even summer I love it just as much as the summer before.  I am a sucker for most tie dye as long as it doesn't resemble too much of a Grateful Dead or hippie look!! The neck line plunges a bit so I add a lace bra let to take up a little cleavage.  I love the criss cross back and to add a little leg I tie a knot in the hem off to one side!  Have you ever tie your maxi hem?  You should try it and see if you like it!!

Summer Casuals

July 07, 2016
One dress, two looks.  One of the best things you can own in your closet are versatile pieces.  Items that you can change a pair of shoes, or add a jacket and take your look up a notch.  This stripe dress is definitely a versatile summer dress.  Paired with a converse sneaker this is a perfect summer casual outfit.  Of course, a hat is a necessary accessory!  You have seen me wear my Nickel and Suede leather earrings many times.  They are so comfortable and lightweight, you really don't realize you have any on.  I tied my chambray shirt around my waist for more of an added touch of color more than a necessary layer.   Tying my chambray shirt  around my waist also serves well to keep you skirt down when the wind picks up!!

I switched up my outfit with a quick change of shoes and these gladiator sandals dressed it up for an easy evening out with friends or date night.  My chambray shirt tied can now serve as a layer if it becomes chilly out.  What do you have in your wardrobe that you can transition into multiple outfits with minor changes?

Weekend Wear

June 14, 2016
When you work outside of the home and dress for the corporate world Monday thru Friday, you want to be comfy and casual on the weekends.  With a few accessories you can keep your weekend wear just as fashionable as your week wear. I admit, I tend to dress super casual when I am at home; as in my neighbors rarely see my hair out of a messy bun or pony tail! To dress up a bit and still maintain my casual vibe a cute scarf or in this case my bandana works great.  Neck scarfs are super popular right now.  A good cross body is a must and my Gigi New York Madison holds all the necessaries for running errands.  It keeps your hands free and your bag close.  A simple stack of my favorite Rustic Cuff and Return to Tiffany's bracelet and my weekend wear is complete.  What does your weekend wear look like?

For Your Best Friend

November 16, 2015
Can you believe the holiday season is upon us?  Yesterday I joked when Joe asked what I had planned for the day that I was putting the tree up for Christmas!  Ha, he didn't find that overly funny, but was a bit nervous I could have been serious!  Traditionally I never decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving.  I do however start my shopping.  When the boys were little I would have 90% off my shopping done before September ended.  As the years have passed and the boys grown I have not been as good with this goal.   So I hope my gift guides are helpful for you as they are for me!  First up with my gift guides is the best friend.  That person who is your ride or die friend.  This is for her!

Middle of the Road

Crossbody_Madison_GIGINY

A quick way to take a bland outfit and spice it up is add a pop of color. We all at one time or another have thrown together an outfit with black and gray. Chances are you probably threw on a pair of black shoes too.  Next time try a bright shoe for fun.  Maybe a fun colbalt, or this mustard heel.  It will take an ordinary day and make it something extraordinary if you allow it! Geez, now I sound like a narrator!!  I recently had a neighbor tell me she would never try the things I put together.  I reminded her that her greatest accessory is confidence!  Hey, it's like I always say...... rock it with confidence and try not to get ran over when standing in the middle of the street!

Pink and Pineapples

June 18, 2015
Summertime means shorts and shorts means casual, at least denim does.  I wanted to dress these shorts up a bit to go out in and still look casual.  It is way to easy and comfortable to throw on a pair of shorts and a tank, slip into a pair of flip flops and out the door you do.  I decided to change it up a bit and with a few pieces to dress this look up.  What do you think?   By adding a structured top I defined my shape a bit more and the shoes with a little flair gave it just the right amount of dressiness I was looking for.  Don't you love the little pineapple cuffs?

I am mentally preparing for my trip to California next month and thinking of all the fun summer outfits I will wear.  I have some fun outfits and collaborations lined up too.  Next week I am sharing my tips on packing and my carry on must haves!

How to style a maxi dress 3 ways

June 03, 2015
Getting the most wear out a maxi dress can sometimes be difficult.  Today I am sharing with you how with a quick change up of a few things you can maximize your maxi!

Let me just start by saying this is a strapless dress too.  First up is the casual... running errands, day look.  So maybe you have a list of things to do and comfort is on the top of the list.  I rolled up the ends and sleeves to my chambray shirt, added my GiGi NY Madison cross body, and slipped into my converse.  Casual, comfy, and hands free!

For the second look, Let's imagine I have a tan for starters.... Ok but seriously, this is a casual look for an afternoon with your girlfriends, or a day date with your guy!

For the last look, I dressed this look up by adding a leopard cardigan, a statement necklace, and slid on these fun mules. I took off the removable strap from my Blair Ritchey PAK to use it as a clutch.  Presto... chango!

Color Blocking

February 20, 2015

I have a confession to make.  I bought this dress back in September before my trip to Minnesota and this is the first time I have worn it.  I don't know what took me so long to pull this outfit together.  Do you have things you have purchased and have left them hanging in your closet?  I was thinking I would pair it up with my leopard pumps but it was super chilly on this day and my legs are not ready for the cold.  I am loving the pop of hot pink!  My short booties went well with it and I also think I might try my tall brown boots too? What do you think?  The sad part is... it is still cold enough to still be wearing sweater dresses and boots! Ugh! At least I am not in Boston.
