Wednesday Wants - Edition 4.4

April 27, 2016
Another edition of pretties with this weeks Wednesday's wants.  If you're in  need of any ideas for Mother's Day I rounded up a few right here! I know I mentioned I was looking for the perfect off the shoulder top and all of the ones I have seen are too short, but this striped one looks promising.  The key to off the shoulder for me is the length and making sure it's not to loose, that only adds to the bust line and I don't need any assistance there!  Keeping my fingers crossed this is a winner!

Shop Local

I spent my Saturday afternoon this past weekend at the beautiful Trapp and Company store here in Kansas City.  Celebrating their Spring into Summer event, the store was full of brightly colored clothing, décor, and of course flowers. I want to thank all of you that stopped by to shop and visit.  It was a fun day.  Being the day before Mother's day the floral department was operating at maximum.  I could have spent more time back there watching the artist arrange gorgeous arrangements. If you weren't able to visit.... no worries. I have plenty of visuals for you today!  This is only a snap shot of the store and you must see it in person.  Lets get right to it shall we?

This is the same sweater tunic I styled here but in white.

This floral arrangement was my favorite as you can imagine with the pretty pinks.

Don't forget dear old dad.... Father's day is coming up and there is a great section for the fellas!

This vase!

Just me hanging out in the flower cooler.

This is only a portion of the wall of Trapp candles and scents.  I found a new favorite Black Pepper.  But I still love the orange vanilla.

Mothers Day Gift Guide

April 23, 2015
With Mother's Day a little over two weeks away now is the time you should be thinking about how to honor all she really does for you.  If you are fortunate enough to have a mom like mine.... she would do anything for you.  She is the perfect example to show me and my sisters how to not only take care of yourself... but take care of your family as well.  When my boys were little I taught them the importance of showing appreciation to those you love and who help you in life.  One day they will be parents and all those life lessons they learned they would be grateful for.   I am proud of my boys and where they are headed.  Sure, there have been a few bumps along the way, but being their mother is the greatest joy ever.  So, treat your Mom, your Step-mom, Grandmother, or whoever is your female role model and let her know how much she means to you.

Mother's Day Weekend

May 09, 2014
Happy Friday friends! I hope you all have wonderful Mother's Day plans either for yourself or with your special momma!  My oldest son still calls me momma while my other two boys call me mom, or when they are frustrated I will hear "Mother"!???? I just think  it is cute to here "momma" out of my 26 year old son's mouth!  He's still my baby! All my boys will be home this weekend with their families for a hopefully sunny weekend.  The boys have plans to go to NASCAR while the girls have plans to shop!!!  Sounds like a win for me!  I am looking forward to planting a few things in my yard, watching all the boys play, and spending some quality time with my family.  I might even get a little color on the old shoulders too on Sunday!  We plan on going to the zoo for Mother's Day! Have a great weekend and I will see you Monday with a fun outfit!

I want to make this for summer. The perfect beach accessory!

Loving this wedge.

This necklace needs to become a staple for me this summer.

Thinking I might  need a pair of these!

I decided I needed a pair of these only to find out when I tried them on I was needing a half size... and they only come whole sizes.  So instead... I will be getting these!  No surprise there I'm sure!

DIY Flower Pots

It was no ordinary Thursday, No, it was a special event night, spent with my sister, and a few of my best blogger friends, sitting side by side, painting and snacking on scrumptious macarons!

Me~ Meg ~ Erin

Carrie and Morgan, better know as Ampersand Design Studio  our lovely hostesses

Last month, yes I am a little behind in sharing,  a few lovely ladies met up at the local Anthropologie for a fun evening of DIY crafting for a sweet Mother's day treat! We mixed, mingled, and then painted and giggled.  While waiting for our paint to dry we shopped!  See?  It was a perfect evening! The tables were lined with all the supplies needed to design your pot and even a cute little pick and flag to stick in your plant!  We selected  our succulents and proudly lined the pots up and proceeded to snap away at our lovely creations!  Haha, mine was a bit elementary of sorts, but for once I didn't seem to mind that is was sub par for the course!

A messy table is a sign of a great time!

I think this would make a great craft for the summer with kids for an afternoon of activities!  Although all my grandsons are too young for this, I will definitely try this with them when they are a bit older!

Thanks Carrie and Morgan, and Anthropologie for a fun evening and great memories with the girls!

Life Lately

May 17, 2013

So you may have noticed my absence this week. I started getting sick last weekend, and have been sick all week.  I have not felt like doing much of anything but feeling better, and working on my computer with a raging headache, and a miserable cough was not on my list of things to do.  I went to the doc and he put me on some antibiotics and some killer cough syrup, but it is still slow going for the mend!

I purposely did not post a feature today for one very good reason.  You, and the feature, deserve my full attention when I post it and I would have felt like it was not my better work.  I hope you're not to disappointed!  I just moved it back a week, and next week it will be awesome!  I promise!!

So life lately has been overall good.  I finished my pillows for my den/office, and although I picked out the fabric for the window treatment, I hated it once I started and STILL do not have a window treatment.  I may just go ahead and reveal the room as is for now and maybe let you all suggest what I should do!?  I received this beautiful candy cane looking rose bush for Mother's day and it smells so good!  We planted it in a new flower bed on the side of the house so I can see it every time I come home!  I added these flats to my closet in nude and wait for it.... neon pink with leopard and can't wait to style them and share with you!

There are two of the cutest little girls that live directly across the street from me and the BF and I have adopted them sorta like our surrogate grand daughters!  You know, we get to draw in the driveway with chalk, chase them, find frogs at dusk with them, and overall enjoy their giggles and squeal.... that is until meltdown time! As much as I always wanted girls, I still stand by the fact that boys are easier!  They both had birthdays this past month and we celebrated in the only way a 4 year old knows how!  With pink cupcakes, Minnie Mouse, and lots of princess stuff.

Fresh flowers always brighten the day, and I am so glad to see the variety grow as more come into bloom.  And that last little diddy of a pic, is my current situation, meds, syrup, and cough drops. Here is hoping for a great weekend of recovery!  I am looking forward to be back to normal next week, if there is such a thing!

What are you doing this weekend?

Dogeared Jewelry

April 26, 2013
Three Little Word.  I. Love. You.  That is what this necklace is named, and those three little words are so powerful!  This is my necklace, thanks Dogeared!

This necklace, is the necklace I picked out for my Mom! It is one of the Karma necklace.  It says "Let your necklace be a reminder that the best in you is the best within me.  Thank you for keeping our circle positive, wise and full of love".  There was no question this wasn't perfect for my mom.  She is my rock, strength, and biggest supported.  All that is good in me, came from her!

I first discovered Dogeared at Market in Atlanta, or was it Dallas, I can't remember actually its been so long, but what I do remember was the sentiment behind the jewelry.  I remember they had a dish in their booth full of small silver tear shaped drops, each with a word on them.  They were for you to take and enjoy!  I still have mine, and to this day I hang my kiss drop on one of my favorite pictures of the BF and I kissing at sunset on the beach along with the silver key to my heart!

Infused with positive energy, and handcrafted in California, each design ranging from subtle classic, to unexpected statements, were designed in the spirit of love, kindness, and consciousness.  With modern and versatile styles, designer Marcia Maizel-Clarke recognized the need for jewelry that speaks.

Some of my favorite pieces are the Karma ones, Dogeared believes in what goes around comes around.  Keeping the same values as they did when they started in 1991, Dogeared is committed to supporting nonprofit groups working to heal the environment and create social change.

Creating jewelry that celebrates love, happiness, and good karma is what Dogeared is all about.  Making a personal, positive statement about the people that love and wear them.

Mothers day is approaching soon, and I have a special giveaway for you in honor of our moms!  I have teamed up with Dogeared to offer one of you the chance to win a necklace for yourself, and for your mom!
Dogeared will even send the necklace straight to your mom for you too!  How perfect is that!

The Silver Wren

April 19, 2013
The Silver Wren, Artisan jewelry, custom made inspired from Michelle's endeavors.  Each piece is hand stamped, oxidized, and polished just for you.   I love the selection of delicate, and dainty pieces so much, I suggested my son order a piece from The Silver Wren last September for a certain occasion you may remember.  She loved it, and I love mine too!

If you are needing a gift, or just want to add a sweet piece of silver to your neck, this is a wonderful shop.  With choices such as bridesmaids gifts, or Mother's day, or just because, I think you will find an item you love as much as I do.

Michelle so generously let me choose one of her newest designs, a dainty gold filled sideways cross with a initial disc.  I chose the initial J for my disc.  It's the BF's initial! You can request a 16" or an 18" chain too.  Now you have the opportunity to win one for yourself.

I just love all the delicate and dainty designs she offers and you will love them too I bet! So who's initial will you get on yours?  Maybe even give it as a sweet Mother's Day gift!   Enter to win by following the instructions in the rafflecopter form below!  Good luck!

Weekend Recap

May 14, 2012
My days and nights have been full lately.  I was glad to not have high plans for the weekend.  Last Thursday evening I met with other KC bloggers to learn about copyright laws.  It was educational as well as an enjoyable evening to meet such talented fellow bloggers here in the KC.  There were approximately 20 attendees.  I am looking forward to the next gathering!  I made some new friends with some funny gals!

If you follow me on instagram you saw a few new items this week that I had to share.  Do you follow me on instagram?  lmurie64.

I took an afternoon off for some much needed R&R with the BF.  The day turned out to be the most fabulously sunny and warm afternoon.  We sat on the patio for hours enjoying the day and each other.  As we sat there and chatted I keep seeing my reflection in his sunnies.  I finally stopped him mid sentence with "don't move"!  Like there was a bug on him or something!  I took my phone and started snapping pics.  A little self portrait!!  Love them!

On Saturday  I added pops of yellow to the house!  I just love having fresh flowers around!  Do you decorate with food as well?

I even added lemons to the Mother's day flowers!

My middle son was so excited to give me one of his gifts he couldn't wait till Sunday!  He has such a kind heart.  He wanted me to wear it on Sunday!!  Love pink!!  I hope you had a great weekend.
