Wednesdays Wants

February 21, 2018
Happy Wednesday friends!

1  //  2  //  3  //  4  //  5  //  6

Who else besides me has missed Wednesday Wants?   I  am so excited to share the first installment for 2018.  I must be having a thing for bucket bags because all three of these are fabulous.  I want all of them!  That Staud bag is super fun!  I am glad that tie dye is still a "thing" because this cute maxi dress is perfect for a spring day.  On to these shoes..... Now you know I have a thing for leopard.... these Air and Grace sneakers are the best.  I mean really.... they are super casual but yet certainly can take your weekend wear up a notch!!  Can we stop for a minute and imagine this pink dial Michele watch on our arm?  This is feeling like a must have for me.  I love my Michele watch and wear it every day.  I recently have been thinking I would like to switch things up and get a round dial watch.. I think I found it!

Asneh Florence Sleeveless Sweater

December 09, 2016

For this styling of my Asneh sweater I opted for casual.  When I shared with you here as the perfect cashmere vest I knew I needed to share a casual look so you can see just how versatile this vest is.  What better way to dress down than in chambray and denim.  Of course with a floppy hat too!  When I think of layering with a sweater, I think bulky.  I love the vest because it eliminates the bulk but keeps the warmth.  I wish it was a little longer for me personally,  but it is so soft and perfect with your shirt tails hanging out to make up for the length.

I have really been working hard to shop my entire closet this season with very little new additions.  I am struggling to not buy any new sweaters this season.... but reworking what I already own has pushed my creativity in my wardrobe!  When was the last time you shopped your closet to create a new outfit?

My New favorite timepiece - JORD Watches

November 29, 2016

We are in full swing for the holidays here.  I am gathering up ideas and lists from my boys to be sure they are happy on Christmas Morning.  Every year for as long as I can remember, my mom asked each one of my siblings and me for a list of our wishes for Christmas.  I continued that tradition with my kids and no matter how old they get they still supply me with a list of wants.  I have a few hard to buy for people on my list as always but this year I have a couple of great and unique ideas in mind for them.  JORD Watches reached out to me and sent me this gorgeous Zebrawood watch.  Yes, you read that correct... it's made of wood and is such a unique watch.

JORD watches offers a selection for men and woman with just about any picky gift recipient sure to be pleased. I personally selected the Zebrawood with the champagne dial.  I love the grain detail in the wood, and the lighter faced dial will be such a versatile accessory to style all year round.  If color is more your style, then there are several to choose from as well.  Arriving in its very own wood box with a mini drawer to stash any removed links or trinkets, all you would need to do is add a ribbon and a bow and your gift is ready to place under the tree!  Because I like treats as much as you do, I am offering you a little help getting your perfect JORD watch under your tree this year.  You will receive a $25 e-gift code towards your purchase when you click here and sign up. But hurry, the gift code link is only open until December 18th and expires February 28, 2017.

Fall is in the air

November 21, 2016

Taking a timeout was never in the plans.  It is good for the body and the soul.  I knew I needed some R&R and as the days turned into weeks, I kept feeding my soul.  Life has been a whirlwind lately.  I have mentioned it several times and while I had every intention of blogging in my spare time, my spare time become too valuable to me.  There just wasn't enough of it.  I took a step back, prioritized the things that needed my direct attention, put in place a few action plans that are continuing to move forward (yay) and my 9-5 work deadline and accreditation audits are over.  I  can finally breath a sigh of relief.   I appreciate you guys for sticking with me and hanging in there while I was on this unscheduled hiatus.    Timeouts are a gift and I am so glad to be back now.  Wouldn't you know the week I come back from my break it turns out to be a short holiday week?

The weather has taken a dip in the evenings and that clearly means time to pull out the sweaters and boots.  I love how fun it is to pull together an outfit that is so easy to dress up with a few statement pieces of jewelry.  This leopard sweater had been a great addition to my wardrobe and I think I actually own four more in a variety of different styles.  From cardigan sweaters to loose styles like this one, you definitely should own at least one great leopard sweater.  These booties are so comfortable and I wear them with jean and dresses.  You need to snag a pair; I love the brown leather too.  They are currently on sale and I know they will sell out.

Easy Fall Transitioning

October 18, 2016
This outfit is perfect to transition into fall with a neutral palette.  With my top being lighter in weight but long sleeves I can wear it day to evening.  I love adding an element of texture to silks and my Ashley Pittman chain link necklace does just that.  I last wore it with my blue sundress in Florida and again, it was a show stopper with a clean solid palette against my solid color dress. The fun thing with transitioning during seasons is you get the best of both worlds.  Mixing denim with sandals, and jackets with shorts it feels like a whole new wardrobe almost!

I have been a little mia and promise to get back to regularly scheduled post as as soon as this month is behind me.  It is the busiest time of the year and between work, traveling, and a few exciting things behind the scenes I have a super full plate.  Hang with me, I promise you won't want to miss what I am woking on.

The Perfect Bow

October 05, 2016

One of the greatest joys to instagram is meeting new friends, finding inspiration and discovering new brands.  I was lucky on this particular day that I stumbled upon Asneh Cashmere.  A gorgeous line of cashmere and silk wears, I fell instantly in love with their designs; loved the ombre pink and red sweater.  It was available in a dress too.  I did what I always do when I find a new brand and researched them.  Okay, so some would call it stalking... but whatever you refer to it, its critical learning.  Asneh Cashmere is a Danish luxury fashion brand that focuses on gorgeous knits of silk and cashmere.  They design and make gorgeous  sweaters, dresses, and scarfs to name a few.  If you could feel how soft this sweater is you would better understand why I love it so much.  The fuchsia bow is a statement for sure.

When Asneh Cashmere sent me this sweater I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about the bow and if it would be too much for a larger chest.  I was pleasantly surprised how great it looks.  The hem line is a bit shorter and I think that helps with my particular frame size to not add unnecessary bulk to my outfit.  This sweater is the perfect weigh to layer with a blazer or add a little edge to it and pair it with your jean jacket.  I love so many items in their fall line and you definitely should check it all out.  Up next for this sweater I will be sharing how to dress it down with denim! Stay tuned!

Pink Paisley Tank

September 08, 2016

Summer time is winding down but that doesn't mean the weather is plunging.  I get where we are excited to start fall layers, and pull out our blanket scarfs, but the weather is still warm and that means a few more weeks of shorts and tanks; at least for me that is!  I have to admit, I have been out of my routine with what seems like everything.  Ever since I go back from vacation I have been on an endless cycle of catch up.  Just when I seem to feel ahead I take a evening break and the next day I'm back to a list of plenty to do.  I need to just slow down and let everything work itself out, so if I owe you an email, or a response I promise I am catching up this weekend.

This tank is one of those items you can wear a bandeau bralette with but I chose to wear a halter.  I liked the added lace at my neckline since the straps are so thin.  Style tip:  Choose to not wear a necklace when details from your top, or in this case lace straps  are exposed so as to not create too much going on.  By adding larger earrings they create a nice focal point.

Breakfast at the Breakers

September 02, 2016

I am down to my final outfit from my trip to Palm Beach and I saved this one for last.  On my last Sunday Morning there we went to The Breakers for breakfast.  It was a gorgeous morning and who doesn't love eating Oceanside?  The setting was fabulous with the breeze coming in from the water and of course the landscaping and grandeur of The Breakers was a treat.  We enjoyed an omelet with avocado and toast; there may or may not have been a few mimosas.  Our morning was spent exploring around the grounds before heading off to the pool for my last full day in the Florida sun. My tan has faded now since I have been home but I still have good color!  We didn't want to show up looking like pool bums so we dressed for the setting and this brown ombre' sundress was for sure a favorite of mine.  I love when a sundress has a bit of movement to it and just the right amount of hemline to be fun and summery.  Sometimes being short has big advantages.... like sundresses that are the right length, rather than tall gals that can't find them long enough!

I love.... I mean absolutely love this Ashley Pittman chain and pendant.  The pieces are individual so you can mix and match pendants as I did here with my Cold Shoulder dress, and also here in my  Summer Sun dress.  I love the weight of the chain; it's heavy.  You know I love unique pieces and this round stone encrusted pendant is right up my alley.  Love it.    I can't wait to style these pieces for fall too!

Style Tip:  Wear a bandeau bra with strappy dresses that have wider necklines.  A racer back bralette or halter bralette would fight with the straps and neckline of this dress.   This allows for the details, and in this case, the keyhole to be the focal point.

Blue Tank Dress with Cosabella Lace

August 23, 2016

Happy Tuesday.  I am still in full summer mode and as I go through all my vacation pictures I am really not ready to say goodbye to summer anytime soon.  We have had some unseasonably cool temperatures; morning lows 59 and 60's!  It's flat out scary to think fall is so close.  I have always loved summer and the warmer temperatures, but I do love fall once it is on full swing.  Let's hope I still feel that way this year after such a fabulously warm time in southern Florida.  When you think of layering you generally tend to think fall or spring.  Think cardigans and blanket scarfs.   Well today I am layering in the heat of summer and I love it!

I mentioned my new found Cosabella racerback bralettes when I shared my Cold Shoulder dress with you.  Today I am showing you all the pretty little details; not to mention the back views.  I love the delicate feel of my dress and paired with the lace it's a feminine look for sure.  I knew that pairing this gorgeous chunky Ashley Pittman necklace would be the perfect statement necklace. Made of hammered brass links intertwined with horn, it is stunning.   My earrings, also Ashley Pittman, are lightweight and so versatile.  I love accessories that work across different seasons as well as able to dress up or down.  These are the perfect statement earrings.

How to Design a Custom Swimsuit with Kini Swimwear

August 22, 2016

Swimsuit struggles can sometimes stop you in your tracks.  Finding the perfect bikini can be so hard and the thought of dressing room mirrors and wondering if you look good in your suit is down right frightening.   We all want to have the latest trend with our suits, but we don't want to compromise on quality and fit.   Who has shown up at the pool to find another person in your exact suit?  (Awkward... especially if the other girl turns out to be some high school or college gal)  I first discovered Kini Swimwear when doing my own research for the "perfect" suit. There is no such thing as perfect, there is only perfect for you!!

Founders Em and Elle, had the same struggles.  That is why they decided it was time to make a change for the way we shop for suits.  Launched in 2010, Kini Swimwear is a website that allows you, the customer to design your suit.  You select the style, prints, colors and size.  It was such a fun process to go through.  I must have created 5 or  6 different styles before I finally had to make a decision... trust me it was hard to just create one suit.  When I saw the fun turquoise and polka dots, and the gingham I knew what I wanted my suit to look like.  An affordable solution to an otherwise task most of us dread every season.  I love my suit and I am so glad I stepped out of my typical colors of pinks and blacks and went with blues!

Swim Suit c/o //  Sunnies  //  Lipstick  //  Bracelets ( We made them!)

The website is very easy to use and making your selections is a snap with images to help you mix and match your top and bottom.  The real fun begins once you have decided on a suit style and you begin adding the little touches!  Want a frill on your top? No problem.  How about a halter top rather than a bra strap?  Again, no problem.  And for your bottoms?.... well there is a style for everyone.  Add ties at your hips, or maybe you prefer a ruffle... for me it was a fold over waistband.   Truly the only thing you need is an imagination and you're set to design!  If you have trouble selecting, they even help you with a style based on your body shape.  My favorite feature is the top not only is sized by your bust, it also includes your cup size!  Yay for larger breast!

So here are a few tips for creating your own custom suit design.

  • Don't order based off of your size.  Take your measurements and compare them to the size chart.  Note... Australian sizing is stated as smaller numbers than in US sizing so don't let that trip you up that the "size" you order sounds tooooo big.  I fell for this until I measured myself! We tend to let a number on a size label dictate how we should look and feel about our self.  Not true.
  • Get Creative.  Step outside of your normal style or color preference and design something truly unique!  That's the fun with Kini Swimwear.  It is truly a one of a kind for you; each Kini Swimwear is made to order based off of the specifications you selected.
  • Give yourself enough time to receive your new Kini Swimwear suit.  It takes approximately 21 days from order to receive your new suit.
  • Plan on going somewhere fun because you will love you new suit that much!  Remember, it's always sunny and 85 somewhere!

Cold Shoulder

August 19, 2016
When traveling to a climate that is different than yours you tend to play the guessing game with what to pack.  You think of what would seem to be ideal for the beach climate, and hot temperatures but inevitably you still run the risk of looking like a tourist; something I avoid at all cost.  The only over packing I did was with my shorts and tanks. I didn't wear a single pair!  Summer dresses are the way to go and so comfortable.  This cold shoulder dress is perfect for the beach environment.  It is breezy, lightweight, and has a fun bell sleeve.

Style Tip:  When wearing a cold shoulder or off the shoulder dress or top add a bandeau or bralette for added coverage and a wee bit of support.  Note:  these are not intended to replace your full support bras.  They are merely an added feature to your outfit while giving you a little coverage.  The beauty is there are no straps to keep covered and they don't slip down like a traditional strapless bra would.  I love the Cosabella racer back bralette and bandeau in a multitude of colors.  I shared one look on my instagram here with the back details of mine.   I own several of each and ordered a few more.  You can never have enough of a selection!
