Cuyana Blush tote and Blush Roses

February 16, 2016
Incorporating pastels into your wardrobe in the drab months of winter should put a pep in your step.  I have talked about my ROA with this jacket and you can also see here, and here other ways I have been styling it this entire winter.  We are inching closer and closer to daylight savings and that means daylight longer into the evenings.  Yay!  I wore this outfit last week to our workshop.  Layering with a jacket really does add versatility to your outfit.  I was able to take off my jacket comfortably inside but when I moved outside it was the perfect weight for a crisp afternoon.   My Cuyana blush tote was a gift from Joe for Christmas and it is one of the softest leather totes I have ever felt.  I love it

Style tip:  When wearing pastels add a small pop of color with your accessories to take your outfit up a notch.  I threw on this The Ropes Maine bracelet as a last minute and accessory and love the hot pink pop.

I switched up to my tortoise sunnies for a softer feel, and well you  know me..... I had to have a bit of edgy so it was my skull Jem slippers for my feet!  How are you adding spring elements to these final winter blues days?

Instagram Happenings

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  Mine was busy and productive, but never long enough! Today I am sharing a few favorites from my instagram account of what's happening there.  Do you follow me on instagram?  There are exciting things I am working on behind the scenes in my office and my blog so stay tune for that announcement.  It is finally cool enough to wear my favorite booties.... and found the perfect amount of distress on a new pair of jeans for under $60.  Sharing my favorite lipstick color and tortoise sunnies.  There is something to wearing this pink color even in fall that just makes me happy!  OH, and it's #Pinktober and that means Breast Cancer Awareness and lots of pink!

I want to start this post by explaining a piece of a blogger's life.  When taking outfits pics you want a setting that is cohesive to what you are wearing.  At least I do!  For example:  A pair of stilettos in grass or a field really doesn't give a genuine impression to you really are wearing that outfit. Every time I have stepped off the street or curb onto the grass in even a smaller heel I stop and think about "does this even look natural?"   So finding a location to shoot can some times be an adventure.  That is what brings me to these pictures.  While running errands and shooting pictures one afternoon Erin and myself stumbled upon this studio.  Ummm cool studio I might add!  It was a prop girls dream come true! I instantly knew the pinball machine needed to be my prop.  The lighting flooding in and the shadows playing across the floor was the best.
Speaking of floors..... these slippers!!  Jem Skull Slippers to be exact.   You may have remembered I have posted about them here.  Loving them from the minute I saw them I knew I wanted a pair.  Now I have a limit to what I will spend on shoes and these exceeded such limit.  I have patiently and oh so quietly followed Mara and Mine just hoping and waiting for the chance to own a pair.  The heavens opened up and a fall sale occurred. I wasted no time making a pair mine!  I have received a few comments from friends as to what the exact draw to these shoes would be and I really don't have one answer.  I have always followed the beat to my own drum and don't necessarily follow trends to the tee.  Different, unique, and well.... just me!  After all that's what you are here to see isn't it?  Style from my perspective.

Traveling The Pacific Coast Highway

July 28, 2015
My first full day in California we decided to hit up the beach, then take a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway.  Also know as Highway 1 this major North South highway runs along most of the pacific coastline of California.  Know for its scenic views of the ocean;  it is popular amongst tourist.  (That was me.)  We headed up to Newport Beach to do a little shopping at Fashion Island and dinner at Fig & Olive

I have heard great things about this restaurant and was excited when my niece who works for the management company made VIP reservations for us.  We arrived a little early and snapped a few outfit picks before heading in.  We had a wonderful table with a view of the entire restaurant.  My seat was a semi circle booth with throw pillows as my cushions.  Pretty cool.    I ordered the Zucchini blossom and goat cheese ravioli, and the presentation was fabulous.

As we waited for our dinner to arrive we were treated to an olive oil tasting.  Each meal begins with a taste of three distinct extra virgin olive oils.  Served with the restaurant's freshly baked Rosemary olive oil fougasse bread we delighted in the sampling.  My favorite was the Fig and Olive Arbosana which was sweet, fruity and creamy.  They have an entire website dedicated to their oils and you can purchase them here.

Polka dot portofino

April 16, 2015
It's that time of the year for finicky weather.  A couple of beautiful sunny days only to be followed by a week of dreary gray days.  This day was clearly a sunny beautiful day.  What made it even better was a few new favorites in my wardrobe.  I don't even know where to start so I am going to start at the top and make my way down the outfit.

These earrings..... oh these earrings.  Nickel and Suede is not only a local company, but Kilee is a sweet friend and blogger!  Nickel and Suede was created and is totally handmade right here in KC.  Kilee and her husband run their business out of their home and her earring line has exploded as the best earrings and they recently added slit leather cuffs to her line.  Ranging in colors from these gold diggers, to her most recent release watermelon there is not only a color for ever one... but a size as well.  Available in three sizes (mine are mediums) you can choose from solid tear drops or cut outs.  Ready for the best thing about them?  they are 100% leather.  You know what that means... lightweight, basically not even there!  The best feature for an earring with size and impact but not the drag you down feeling.

My new cuff from Rustic Cuff is perfect for summer.  A white leather cuff with a hot pink thread initial... I am loving how fun this will be all summer.

Have you noticed my shoes?  these tassel loafers are so fun they are sold out everywhere.  I am so glad I bought a pair before they sold out.  Love them!!  A flat mule, with tassels, and beads = fabulous!!  So what's new in your wardrobe?

Stripes and Tweed

October 23, 2014
I don't know what is growing more in my closet.... the leopard or the stripes!  Can you really ever have to many stripes or enough leopard? I don't think so!  Or enough pink!  I stepped a little out of my comfort zone with this Baublebar statement necklace and am so glad I did.  Although I am still not a fan of the statement necklaces (a personal preference for me) they look great every time I see someone wearing one.  The pop of pink ties the outfit together don't you think?

I do have a confession to make however, every time I see a style post around the internet a stylist puts together I often have to ask myself, Why did she leave the clutch empty?  It looks so fake and flat.  She should at least put something in her clutch to at least appear as if she is really carrying it rather than styling it!  Every time I see a post with a clutch that is empty I think ...what an oversight.  Now I bet your looking at my clutch here and thinking the same with me today.... but I ALWAYS have items in my clutch and it looks flat in all these pics.  So I have to stop judging all those style pics I see and give a little grace, because today my clutch looks like the ones I laugh at!!!!!

Leopard and Camo

October 17, 2014
When I first purchased these camo pants I had no idea how many ways I would be able to style them.  It is as if they are a neutral.  Seriously, so many things just work with them.  The one thing I love about this particular pair, which I purchased from Target,  is that they have stretch to them.  I hate a pair of stiff jeans or pants don't you?   I try to put together outfits on the weekend and line them up in my closet in what I like to call the bull pin... Not that they are in any particular order, but that I have all the elements gathered to complete an outfit.  It allows me time to think it thru, gather what I need and try different items to see what works best.  Do you plan out your outfits, or wing it?  I do wing it some, trust me on that... the girls in the office will attest to those days, but when I see an outfit in my minds eye I am anxious to pull it together!  One other benefit besides time savings, is I pull accessories from my closet that I might have over looked other wise.  Like this bag... It is what the sales associate in the Gucci store called "A loved bag"!  When I was browsing for a new bag I was carrying this one.  The corners are not protected with leather and the fabric is wearing.  Still a great bag ,but definitely showing its wear.  It now resides in the top of my closet overlooked often.   How many things are you overlooking in your closet?

Fall Favorites

September 10, 2014

The one good thing about the season changing is you get to spruce up your wardrobe.  There are a few things that I am planning on adding this season, starting with these below!!  Switching out my boyfriend jeans for a good clean slim cut is a must.  When you start adding layers and chunky sweaters, you don't want to feel sloppy and baggy in your jeans too.  This chunky sweater is just what I need for fall.  I love the large cable knit and the longer hem in back.  So, you know I love The Ropes Maine bracelets... this black and burgundy is gorgeous for fall.  I have my eye on that for sure!  There are some weekends I just don't want to put on jeans and run errands.  I also don't want to run around in sweats either.... this little knit dress is the perfect in-between.  Once the weather turns even cooler, add a pair of leggings and weekends here I come!

I love drivers and have worn them for many years.  Last year I bought a pair of the leopard calf hair from C Wonder and they were the most comfortable, softest step shoes ever.  I mean ever.  I for sure want to add a new pair this year too.  And speaker of C Wonder.... aren't these loafers adorable?   A few more favorites of mine are graphic sweaters..... um yeah! and plaid, plaid, plaid!  Is it just me or are you loving plaid this year too?  What are some of your favorites you want to add this season?

Pink and Green

May 15, 2014
Notice anything odd about these pics of me?  I will give you a hint... I don't generally wear colored sunnies!  Gab picked up several pair of fun summer shades and I threw them on because they matched my outfit so well.  This sweater is the exact same as this green one and now I wished I picked up more colors.  I have a habit of buying one of every color when I find something I like.  Do you buy in multiples too?  I am loving the selection of tee's at Target for summer.  You can never have enough v neck tees!  Remember last week I introduced you to Rack Room Shoes and mentioned they sent me several pair to style?  These sandals are a new pair and are super dee duper comfy! I slipped them on and they didn't need to be broken in at all.  You know how some sandals are stiff and rub?  These did not rub one single bit!  I love the chains over the top of my foot too!
