Mixing Metallics for Fall and a Giveaway

September 15, 2015
Have you seen LoveFeastShop  plush velvet pumpkins?  They are gorgeous.  I have the Sunset Trio  and shared how I styled them in my home here.  This year I'm adding a new set to my decor and I couldn't be more excited.  Are you ready for this?  Metallic gold pumpkins.  Gorgeous; not to be outdone by the silver metallic either!   You will have a chance to win a set of your choice too. Ekkkk... get excited!

I struggled briefly deciding between the silver and gold, but in the end the gold went better with my Sunset trio.  I really love the lambskin set too!  I don't want to jump the gun and pull out all my fall decor but I did style my sofa table with my new set and couldn't be happier with how the two sets go together.  See how I made my velvet acorns for my décor here or if you're not too crafty, you can purchase those from here as well!

I found a roll of burlap with gold flecks in it and made about a dozen leaves to add to my decor.  The gold flecks in the burlap compliment the metallic pumpkins well.  Keep an eye out for when I share how I made these leaves a little later.

Are you ready for fall?  Have you already pulled out your decorations?  Well today I am going to help you get started.  I have teamed up with LoveFeastShop and we are  offering a Trio of your choice of pumpkins (excluding the lambskin) to compliment your home this fall season.  I know it's not pumpkin spice latte but it is a trio of adorable pumpkins!

The Big Launch Party

August 18, 2015

I know I have hardly talked about my venture and my co founders, but the day has arrive!  We have been working for over 6 months on this day and can I tell ya? ..... It feels so good!  Formally know as The Kansas City Blogger Meetup, we knew we had outgrown the name.  It was time for a fresh look and a new approach to gathering bloggers together.  The Blog Guild is the brain child of Emily, myself and Erin.  We wanted to define what it was we loved so much about meeting up with other bloggers and share with our fabulous community we have here in KC.  The three key elements for all three of us was to Create a community for bloggers who can Connect with other like minded gals who share a similar passion.  We know that building a relationship with companies is what it takes to make a great Collaboration that is mutually beneficial for both the brand and the blogger.    I would love for you to take a peek and click around, check out our resources page, and if you are local.... well by all means send us your info so we can add you to the membership!   Do you have a bloggers group where you live?  Don't fret if not..... we have you covered as well; shoot us an email and we will set up a meeting to share with you how you can bring The Blog Guild to your city!

Here is just a small peek at the evening.  I am sure I will have plenty more to share soon!

Kendra Scott Jewelry opened a new store locally here and so graciously hosted our launch party.  Can you say jewelry, shopping discount, sips and snacks?  Yup, it was a grand evening.  We had photo props, a braid bar courtesy of Parlor Blowdry Beauty Bar and gave away a bunch of Kendra Scott Jewelry  to a few lucky bloggers in attendance.  I have my eye on these earrings and this necklace!

Thanks for following along and I can't wait to see where I go from here!  I know one thing, It's time to start sharing my fall outfits.  Can you believe it?

Traditions

December 09, 2014

What I love most about the holidays is the traditions.  I remember every year growing up some of the traditions my mom carried out and I have continued with a few traditions for my boys.  We made divinity, fudge, haystacks, and spritz cookies.  I loved helping her in the kitchen if for nothing else other than a sneaky little taste without the others knowing.  One of my favorite cookies to make at the holidays is the Spritz.  A light delicate almond flavored cookie.  When my grandmother passed away several years ago I requested her cookie press.  I know they make new one and they have a handy trigger that "presses out the correct amount" but I never could get it to work better than my old fashion press.  So the new one sits in the box, and with the right amount of twist of the wrist I use my Grandmother's every year.

I am all about traditions.  I try to instill in all my boys the same.  There is something to be said for have certain expectations.  For example, every year I make home made cinnamon rolls Christmas eve for the morning festivities.  My boys have come to know this and expect them.  My oldest wanted to start the same tradition with his family and asked me to share my recipe with my daughter in law.  That's what I love about the holidays.  The warm memories traditions bring.  Another tradition is cut out cookies for santa.  Every year the boys and I would gather around the table and cut, frost and decorate cookies for santa.  He always had three on his plate, one from each boy!  One year their dad actually informed me "santa really would like to try the fudge dipped oreos"... I told him that was not tradition... and Santa never received dipped oreos!  Haha!

I enjoy baking a lot this time of the year.  Chocolate, frosting, sprinkling, dipping, and stirring is in full force in my kitchen.   So what do I do with so many sweets coming from my kitchen?  I purchase Christmas plates and fill them up with an assortment of goodies and give them as gifts.  Home made treats make the perfect hostess gift for home parties.  When the plate is empty the hostess has a holiday plate to use again and again.

With the holidays creeping up on us wouldn't you love to have a little extra spending cash?  I know I would! Weather you have your shopping done, or are just starting,   Coupons.com/TGS  has the good stuff!

If you are a budget friendly shopper, (I know I am) there are gifts for everyone.  If you're not into baking away for a hostess gift (like me), Coupons.com/TGS  has hostess gifts galore.  Do you have a hard to buy for on your list?  Yeah, everyone has at least one of those, well there are gifts for the enthusiasts too!
The Good Stuff 2014 Holiday Sweepstakes will be for one $100 winner per week and one $500 grand prize winner now thru December 25th.  Just click on the photo above and it will take you straight to Coupons.com!   Now that's something to be merry about!

*This post was brought to you by Coupons.com but all the traditions are mine and I wouldn't change a one... not even for fudge dipped oreos!!

An Evening with Bloggers

June 17, 2014
Who ever invented the weekend should have added one more day!  Just saying.... if we had always started with a three day weekend it would be the norm now instead of a luxury.   Happy Tuesday!

My oldest grandson turned 6 on Friday and his little birthday party was Saturday.  I drove to the party on the most blustery day across the Flint hills of Kansas ever.  They live 2 hours west of KC and man was it a struggle to stay on the road with the wind fighting me. But on to the good stuff.

Last Thursday a few local blogger friends got together to mingle, nibble, and share laughs.  I say a few, there were 40+ RSVP's  I'm pretty sure and a few last minute gals dropped by!  It was at the lovely Amigoni Winery in the west bottoms of DT KC.  I had never been there but what a lovely space for parties, or events.  The light flowing thru the windows makes for great photo ops.

Pencil Skirt

February 21, 2014

I wore this pencil skirt this week and paired it with a little lime green and snow leopard.  The snow has finally all melted but the lake was still frozen and looked beautiful.  While we were out on the dock taking photos the lake made a few haunting lurches and creeks.  Enough to scare us a little!  It is becoming second nature for me to mix and match patterns these days and this was no exception.  Check out the detailing on the inset of my skirt!

Sweater Ann Taylor ~ Blouse Gap(similar on sale too) ~ Skirt Ann Taylor (similar)  ~ Boots old but I like these ~ Bag ThuFri c/o ~ Cable bracelet Rustic Cuff ~ Chain bracelet Claudia Rowe c/o ~

I first shared my love of Claudia Rowe here.  The Bristol chain bracelet plated in silver antique with 18k gold dipped hammered heart detail is perfect for layering.   I have on many occasions shared Rustic cuff with you here, here, and here, and her new line of bracelets include this Cable twist stainless steel bracelet with RC rectangle ends is gorgeous for sure. I carry my ThuFri bag I first shared with you here, everyday to the office with anything I might need to run errands with.  It is so roomy and stylish.  I am so excited to be sharing these fabulous designers with you again. The Python Away Weekend clutch  has a removable chain strap and roomy interior making it suitable for a chic cosmetic case or to carry all the necessities for a night out. It's great for keeping small valuables organized for a weekend or everyday when slipped into an Everyday Tote. I love mine!

As I mentioned yesterday, today is another collaboration giveaway of more favorites!  I know... I do have a lot of favorites!!  One lucky Peridot Sky's reader will win both the Claudia Rowe Bristol chain bracelet and the Rustic Cuff cable twist, and the ThuFri Python Away clutch from their new line the Weekend!!  Pretty fabulous if I may say so myself!!
