3 Things I learned with Chanel

June 06, 2016
I attended a beauty event last Tuesday evening hosted by The Blog Guild and Town Center Crossing Macy's in Leawood. The Chanel beauty counter was our featured beauty product for this evenings event and we were treated to gorgeous color palettes, fabulous fragrances, and a skin care that will make you feel like a million bucks! Town Center Macy's in Leawood is the only Macy's in Kansas that has a Chanel counter.  That makes it very handy for when you need a refill of a product, or to play with the new colors.  With out all the hassle of the mall, the Town Center Crossing Macy's is a perfect spot to shop.

Our theme for the evening was Eyes speak volumes, and we were going for dramatic eyes.  It's funny how you can wear makeup for so many years and yet there is always something new to learn.  I love when a makeup line evolves with the trends.  Rance, our consultant for the class was wonderful.  He took the time to assist each person with the right product for her skin type, showed us all how to do a perfect tight line, and even had some of us stepping out of our comfort zones (me) in colors we generally would select.  (It wasn't a pink lipstick)

So what 3 things did I learn?

  • When you apply a tight line to your upper lid keep it on the lashes in a dotting pattern, not drawing a line motion.  It applies so smooth and glides right on.

  • To select your correct shade of blush, make a tight fist, then release it and squeeze your ring finger (any finger will do) at the tip.  The color your finger tip shade is will be your natural blush of your cheeks

  • Apply your eye cream to the orbital bone of your eye.  Not actually directly under the eye area.  Believe it or not, you can actually over hydrate the delicate skin under your eyes and you will create white bumps.

I was the model for the evening so the only pics I have of my makeup are from my snapchat!!
My new favorite products I added to my makeup bag are the Le Volume mascara, Lash Primer, and I love the CC cream.

What are some of your favorite Chanel products?  Anything I need to know about?

How to Layer with Jo Malone Fragrances

April 07, 2016
I have worn Jo Malone for many years so when The Blog Guild and Nordstrom teamed up to teach us the art of layering you can bet I was thrilled.  If you have never experienced time at the Jo Malone counter you really need to stop and spend some time there.  The sales associates will guide you through the art of layering and what it really entails.  They show you how to blend your fragrances and learn the notes in each one so you find your very own signature scent.  I love that they are so rich and luxurious that you may wear each fragrance as a stand alone or layer one, two or even three fragrances at a time.
My "signature scent"  Jo Malone favorites that I layer are Pomegranate Noir and Nectarine Blossom and Honey, and Grapefruit and Orange Blossom.  If you find a favorite.... be sure to stay in touch with your local Jo Malone counter as they retire fragrances on occasion and you may find yourself down to the last drops of a bottle and not be able to replace it.  It has happen to me and I heard last evening that they retired Vanilla Anise.  I will sparingly use the half bottle I still have now.

So last night I explored the counter and may have found a new combination.... I will wear a sample of this combination to see how I like it throughout the day, but I can already tell I like these both as individual fragrances.  Do you have a favorite Jo Malone combination?  Share with me in the comments so I can try your favorite scent!

Beauty Favorites

November 20, 2013

This weeks four favorites is about beauty.  You know how the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Well that's true, but sometimes a little help can go a long way.  I started noticing my eyes didn't seem to have the same brightness as they did when I was younger.  Not to mention the wrinkles starting to show!  I have tried several eye creams with promises of firming, dark circle lightened, and  wrinkles lessened.  Honestly, I never noticed a significant difference until I tried this Chanel  Eye Cream.  I absolutely love it! It is definitely an investment to your beauty regime, but the results are worth it.

Pretty fingers and toes are a must.  I have been stuck on french manicures for quite some time, but never let my toes go by without a fresh pedicure.  These Essie  Polish colors are great for the holidays.  A little platinum for the toes please!!

Another must for healthy skin is a good Microdermabrasion .  This is great for really getting a deep cleanse and a smooth completion and glow.   I have used Mary Kay skin products since I was 18, (lets not do the math on that shall we?) and even met Mary Kay Ash on a trip to Dallas.  Her skin was flawless even at her age and that was a good incentive to try her products.

A perfect Fragrance and my favorite Jo Malone.  I am always adding a new scent from her line to layer and create my own signature.  Nothing feels better than someone leaning in to tell you how wonderful you smell and ask what your wearing only for you to tell them its custom Jo Malone.  I love that your scent is unique to you.

Scent of a woman

February 23, 2012
Fruity or woodsy?  Citrus or spice?  There are so many good choices of fragrances its hard to pick just one.  I wore the same scent for many years until recently.  I was on vacation in Naples on a girls trip and while shopping in Saks I asked for a sample of the most popular fragrance at the Jo Malone counter.  What attracted me to the counter was their display of scents.  SO many!  I went home with 6 samples.  I was in love with a new fragrance.  The next day after the beach the girls and I went shopping again (I know, I know shopping again?)  I had narrowed down the samples to two favorites.  I wanted to wear the scent for a few days and have my guy smell it on me before making the purchase.  Little did I know that you could not buy the perfume in my city, or for that matter the whole state.

I flew home and he loved them as much as I did.  I decided that if I was going to order the fragrance from out of state I would order from a address with some status!!  Madison Avenue store in NYC.  I have been ordering from them now for several years and they are always so sweet and fast in getting my shipment to me.  They wrap your bottles in pale yellow boxes tied with black grosgrain ribbon. It is always a treat to open the box.   My original two favorites have grown to 6.  They discontinued one of my original favorites as it was limited edition.  If you have the chance to stop by a Jo Malone counter ask for a sample.  I promise you won't be disappointed. I know this sounds like a promotion for Jo Malone But it is strickly my personal opinion.

These are wonderful fragrances as well.  I have worn all of these but the Prada. The Gucci is a great winter fragrance as it is a tad heavy on me.   I really like the Trish Mc Evoy for the summer.  What are some of your favorite fragrances?  Do you wear the same all year round or do you change with the seasons?  I would love to hear your favorites.
