Paisley Pinks and Green

April 28, 2015
Today I am sharing the second installment of how to wear a statement necklace.  You can see my first outfit here.  As I mentioned in my previous post, Ngan creates gorgeous one of a kind pieces in her studio.  Today I paired it with jeans and colorful top with my converse to dress it down a bit.  This is what I wore day 2 of Go Blog Social.  I have attended enough seminars and events to know to always wear layers.  I am really trying to incorporate more middle of the road outfits rather than define casual, business dressy, or down right comfy!

I don't think I mentioned in my previous post on Investment pieces for you wardrobe (you can read that post herethat a jean jacket is an investment piece or in my How to Build a Wardrobe post (you can read it here). This is my second jacket and mine is from Gap.  You will get miles of wear and use out of a jean jacket, even if you can't wear denim to your office like me! (Insert angry face) I suggest you try several styles on.  Ranging in a variety of colors, lengths, and my favorite some adding stretch (Insert happy face) ...you will need to think about what you will be wearing under it as well.  You don't want to put your jacket on over a sweater and look down to see not only do you have Hulk arms, but also you can't bend them!

Happy Friday!  All day Wednesday I thought it was Thursday... So the fact that it is actually Friday is good news!  Whew... what a week. Oh... and today is my daughter in laws birthday, Happy Birthday Lindsay!  Can't wait to see your face when you open your gift!!

It has been a busy week in my world and I didn't even go on vacation for spring break.  My daughter in law had surgery on her leg again. Back in December she had a full knee replacement.  She was doing great recovering but unfortunately she fell two weeks ago and broke both the bones in her lower leg.  The doctors thought they could set the break without surgery but this week they places screws and plates in her leg.  I need this girl off crutches soon so she can go shopping with me!

We found out someone at my grandson's school was bullying him.  I cannot tell you the heartache that is.  Trying to grasp what on earth would cause a child of such a young age to think being mean was acceptable behavior; let alone they attend an anti bully class at his school every week.  The parents of that child need to be held accountable for this action and the teacher who passed it off as "sometimes things happen" needs a little reality check in the form of unemployment!  Rant over!

Remember when I shared my list of 50 x Fifty here ? I have completed several items on the list so far and have a few more on the list lined up to complete! GO me!

The weather is slowly turning warmer, I say that as if 45 is a heat wave! haha!  Outfit pics as starting to take place again and I am so glad to get back at it! All of the scenery is brown and dull around the lake we use to take the pictures, but soon enough it will be in full bloom!

Easter is right around the corner and I can't wait to decorate my house with these eggs.  Find the entire DIY post here!

With spring in full bloom the time to start shopping for new items to add to your closet is upon us. Don't forget to follow the guidelines I shared here on wardrobe building, and  if you missed  this post on splurge items I highly recommend you reading it before you shop!

I will be attending Go Blog Social again this year with my favorite blogger girlfriends and a few new friends I have met through out this year in two week! Cannot wait to hear everyone speak and learn a few new tricks!

So what's new in your world?  Any big weekend plans?

Go Blog Social Recap

August 20, 2013

These lovely ladies and I attended Go Blog Social right here in lovely downtown KC last week along with about 80 other ladies!  It was a two day event and held at the Hotel Phillips.  THe weather was gorgeous, the venue beautiful, and the speakers amazing. Two days packed with laughter, girl time, sharing tips and tricks, and learning from some amazing ladies what works for them.

This was my first time attending a blogger conference so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew what I wanted as a take away from the event.  I wanted to network, learn from woman that were experienced in areas that I wasn't, and maybe learn a few things about myself along the way.  Friday morning we met for a coffee before heading into the conference hall and take outfit pics of course!

If you know me, then you know that I don't have a problem meeting new people, or making new friends, so the hopes of networking was going to be easy for me.  At first glance I clearly knew I was the oldest blogger in the room.  Not that that was a problem, I know that for the most part this is a younger generations venue.  I didn't care!  It was only after lunch and ladies took different seats in the room that we may have spotted one, just one lady that appeared to be older than me!  Haha!

The speakers were engaging, and informed about their topics.  I had heard or knew personally over half the speakers, so it was good to listen from a business perspective to my friends, rather than a friendly conversation of sharing ideas and what works!  Meg was up in the morning and did a great job of not only engaging us, she was delightful as always!

Meg Biram presented on Saturday and this was my second time to hear her share great information.  I was excited to catch up with her, and compare what I had taken away from my first seminar, and see if and how I was applying what I learned last year!  I was a good study!  If you ever have to opportunity to take one of Meg's seminars I encourage you to do so!

These were on her feet, don't you just love them?

Many of the sponsors of the event were offering giveaways thru-out the day.  The only problem with that was you needed a good strong Internet connection!  Oh, and you needed to be able to tweet faster than a room full of 20 and 30 year olds!  Now you get the oldest in the room comment!  Poor Erin was having a frustrating time on Friday, and I, by my own admission was not the fastest tweeter in the room, so I shared my phone with her to tweet to win!  A little pay it forward I thought, and it must have been good karma because Saturday I did win by my own fast tweeting fingers!

Thanks BaubleBar, for sponsoring the event and I won this statement necklace!  I'm not a statement necklace gal generally, so you might just see this baby very soon up for grabs in a giveaway on the blog! It is super cute and colorful, so you better keep a look out for it very soon!

Jeanette of J's Everyday Fashion was Friday's keynote speaker.  I will sum it up like this...... Funny, witty, dry sense of humor, (I enjoy), can goof on herself, genuine, lovely, and so motivating!  I enjoyed her so much and cannot wait to pick up this book she recommended!  Great speaker again! Definitely check out her blog!

Sandy, Erin, Myself, and Meg taking every photo op available!

My birthday was Saturday, and Erin and I carpooled downtown at it was her day to drive.  When I opened up the car door this is what great me!  What a sweet surprise!  Oh and remember when I posted about this necklace? Yeah, that's Erin's neck and I love that necklace!  Unfortunately, I am still unable to find it unless I am willing to pay big for it, or buy a knock off, which if you know me, you know that isn't my style!

Have you attended a blogger conference?  What was your biggest take away?  I am thinking about traveling to attend another and would love to hear your comments on Alt or Blogher.

Blog Biz Recap

June 19, 2012
I had the opportunity to meet Meg Biram of Mimi+Meg and learn some fabulous blogging tips from her two weeks ago. She hosted a seminar in Downtown KC and a few fellow bloggers and I were excited to attend.  I met a few new bloggers in the KC area which is always fun too!    Blog Biz Buzz was both educational and  rewarding for me. I would highly recomend attending if you are new to blogging or trying to start a business in conjunction with your blog.  Not to mention the goodies we got to take home!
I started the evening with dinner at a little greek restaurant with Shea and Deanna.  We then walked down one block to the meeting site and was promptly greeted by Meg.  The room was set up in an intimate informal setting with cozy chairs and sofas.  As everyone began arriving Meg popped the cork and we enjoyed sipping champagne and these scrumptious macaroons from Au Bon Macaron, a local company here in KC that I will definitely order from!  Meg was warm, engaging, personal, and super cool!  I am so glad I attended.  If she plans a Blog Biz Buzz in your city....GO!!  You won't be sorry. Meg tweeted yesterday that she is planning a Blog Biz Buzz in Philadelphia.  Check it out if you are close.

The sponsors added such a fun treat with items to take home!

Here is my pile of goodies from the event!  A pennant from Laura Parker which is a constant reminder!  A cupcake bath fizzy by Jeannie at Dirty Laundry, my new bracelet I picked out from Swell Caroline, A mini bag from Stephanie Johnson, and a fun tray by Ampersand Studios.  I love it all.
